Mark: The Rathian Empty Mark: The Rathian

Post by The Weakest One Mon Nov 02, 2009 10:19 pm

Isaac pushed his way through the thick jungle canopy. He growled a little as he was sent on a mission of certain death to hunt a Rathian. The pay was rather good, but it was a troublesome task even for a hunter of Isaac's caliber. He strode through the area and held a bow in his left hand that happened to be his customised bow: Fang. Fang held a black shade that set well in the shadows from the giant leaves of the jungle trees above. His quiver was full of arrows made for speed and ability to pierce, he had them customised just in time for a mission like this. The bow however, was average in size, just over that of a longbow. It was a rather cold day as the sun shone though breaks in the jungle leaves.

Isaac was able to sense the presence of all of the monsters around him as he heard all of the surroundings. He was listening for louder steps, that would sound rather crushing, louder than that of the velociprey around here. Suddenly he picked up an increased pace from the east. He turned his head at an angle just enough to see a monster rushing towards him. He frowned a bit as it wasn't the monster of whom he was searching for. He put out his bow pointing towards the oncoming velociprey. He knocked an arrow and aimed at the beast. He pulled back on the drawstring. The tension was what felt like a normal shot. He released the shot and the velociprey toppled over, pierced through a vital.

Isaac walked over to the small monster and checked its vital signs anyways, just to be sure. Sure enough, the monster was dead. Suddenly, a quake from the ground made Isaac lose his balance a bit. Quickly, he rush towards a nearby tree, running up a few feet and grabbing a branch and used a bow and arrow effect to shoot himself up higher to get a good view of what was to come.

Isaac then saw what he was hoping he would, the Rathian was lumbering towards the dead beast, right into a trap that isaac wasn't that sure he had set up until this point. It seemed a little slower than Isaac had studied of it. Even on land, he had heard this monster's massive steps allowed it to move quickly over land as if it were in a sky. Isaac was a little curious as to this, but a mark was a mark, maybe he could survive this kind of mission after all.

It was, however, moving fast, and it was already to the velociprey by the time Isaac was done observing. He knocked an arrow on his bow. He smirked lightly as he put the tension at a high level and his fingers ached a bit. He released his grip and an arrow flew at a massive speed towards the large dragon beast. Isaac had figured that now, the hunt was on.

Isaac's arrow hit, but it barely pierced the scales of the large beast. He grimaced a bit as the giant beast was still able to be alive at this point. The Rathian looked at Isaac and he cringed. He bounced up and knocked an arrow as quickly as possible pulling to the highest tension he could. He released and another arrow flew at the beast. It let out a massive roar as it clearly felt a great deal of pain now. Isaac hurtled towards the ground at a higher speed than he predicted and just then managed to grab the same bendy branch he did earlier. It slowed his landing to a normal drop from a few feet would feel like.

The Rathian charged, still slow, but still fast. Isaac released to try and get back. The branch shot forward and slapped the Rathian in the face. Isaac chuckled a little and bounced away, blasting another arrow at the Rathian. The beast managed to dodge the shot and spun around, swatting Isaac with its tail. He rolled a bit and skidded, shooting an arrow as fast as he could. He frowned.

Isaac's arrow missed rather badly. Hitting a tree about 4 meters the the left of where he aimed. The Rathian had used a wing to have the wind change the direction of the arrow. Isaac was a little sad that even though this creature was slowed for some reason, he was still unable to cause it serious enough damage to win a fight. His arrows were at a high enough piercing power, but the power of the bow was still saddening for its usual ability against a mark. There was some kind of spell of this monster. Suddenly, the beast pumped its wings and was in the air. Isaac's eyes widened. The queen of the skies has taken to her territory, and Isaac was the enemy now.

The Rathian pumped its wings harshly, the wind was making it hard for Isaac to stand. He frowned as he was trying to keep his feet on the ground. The Rathian roared like it was laughing at Isaac's weakness from where he stood. He ran over to a tree and took cover from the blasting winds. Isaac knocked an arrow as it was time to execute a little trick he pibked up when he was hunting birds for food in the wilderness. He drew back the drawstring a bit and aimed at the massive beast. He drew back a bit more and then twisted his grip and released. The arrow shot at the Queen of the Skies, spiralling enough to distrort the wind that was blasting at it, and it drilled a bit into the Rathian's scaley armor. It let out a roar of pain. The Rathian dropped to the ground and licked at the blood from his wound. Isaac had a plan now.

Isaac was now certain that he could win. He knocked an arrow and drew back, taking as careful an aim as he could. He twisted his grip once more and released as an arrow again spiraled at the Rathian and pierced the shoulder. Isaac had run into an issue again. He had aimed for a vital to kill the beast, but the spiraling of the arrow threw the shot off course and hit the monsters leftward shoulder. Isaac growled a bit, suddenly the Rathian ran towards him, Isaac was a bit startled. He jumped up on a branch and bounced up high. His eyes sharpened for killing points. He suddenly knocked 5 arrows to the bow and drew back, and twisted his grip again. The Rathian was on to him and flew up a bit, but not fast enough to escape its sealed fate. It fell down as five arrows had pierced it through its wings. Isaac fell as well, but landed on the Rathian's back and hopped off.
